The NCAVA Board of Directors are pleased to announce that the 2014 State Conference on Volunteerism is scheduled for May 14-16, 2014, in downtown Greensboro, NC. We will be “Looking Back and Moving Forward.”
Greensboro is a city of rich and powerful history, from the sit-in movement in the 1960’s to once being the epicenter of textiles domestically and internationally. While you are here for our amazing conference, you’ll have the opportunity to visit the International Civil Rights Center and Museum, attend a Greensboro Grasshoppers baseball game, visit the Guilford Courthouse National Military Park, and much more!
During the three day conference, volunteer managers and nonprofit professionals will attend workshops that will help us in our day-to-day work; the workshops range from a variety of topics in volunteer management ranging from the following: engaging corporate volunteers, social media and volunteer engagement, service learning vs. volunteering, and much more.
Rob Jackson will present the Keynote Address and Mike Collins will present an energetic closing session on positivity: two dynamic speakers to educate and entertain. The Keynote speaker is Rob Jackson, internationally recognized consultant and presenter on volunteer management from the UK. To know more about Mr. Jackson, check out the background on our fabulous keynote speaker!
In addition, NCAVA will have a special celebration at this conference in observance of its 40thbirthday. These three days are not only about the education you will received, but this will also be an opportunity for you to network with peers and professionals across the state.
The intended outcome of this conference is to assist participants in:
- learning new ideas and best practices,
- gaining skills that enhance professional development, and
- strengthening professional networks.
