March 18, 2020

Dear NCAVA members and fellow volunteer leaders,

Like many of you, the NCAVA Board of Directors has been monitoring the situation surrounding the COVID-19 virus very closely. After the recent recommendations published by both the CDC and the Governor of NC, we have decided to postpone our NCAVA Statewide Conference until May 19-21, 2021. We will stay in Winston Salem at the same hotel.

Please know that this decision did not come lightly as we value this event not only for its educational opportunities but because it is our opportunity to network with all of you. We also, however, feel as though it is our social responsibility to help in the fight against COVID-19. We also recognize that it is so many of our members who will meet the call of their communities in this time of uncertainty.

Our VP of Professional Development and our Education/Certification Chairs are working on a plan to make NCAVA accredited workshops available online, as we know that the conference is where a lot of our members acquire their CEUs. We will be providing more information on this in the upcoming weeks and are excited to make some of our educational opportunities more accessible to our members.

To those of you who have already registered for the conference, we thank you. We will be reaching out to you to issue full refunds and hope you will join us next year. For those that have booked a hotel already, your rooms will be canceled this week. Please, stay tuned for more information.

The Board would also like to take a moment to thank our affiliate, PRAVA, for their hard work in planning this year’s conference. Their dedication to providing a great experience was truly remarkable and it showed in the hotel they chose, the speakers and workshops that they lined up, as well as their general excitement for the event.

If you have any questions, please email ncavacommunicationsteam@gmail.com. Thank you for your understanding, and please stay safe during these uncertain times.

Sincerely,

Your NCAVA Executive Board and PRAVA Conference Committee
