NCAVA Education Chair Now Open (2022-2023)

The North Carolina Association of Volunteer Administration Board of Directors has started the process of recruiting for the Education Chair position. The Education Chair will assist the VP of Professional Development with ensuring members have access to educational and certification opportunities. We encourage interested NCAVA members to apply or share with others they feel may be a good fit. The position is completely volunteer, but it is a great way entry level position to gain leadership and non-profit board experience.

Position Information:

  • Location: North Carolina or surrounding areas if able to attend in-person meetings.

  • Primary Objective

    The primary objective of the Education Chair is to administer a program of education, training, and certification for NCAVA members, affiliates, and professionals in the field of volunteer administration.  

  • Responsibilities

    The primary responsibilities of the Education Chair are to:

    • Collect and maintain a database of information on workshops conducted by NCAVA affiliates and partner organizations that produce training materials relevant to the field of volunteer leadership. 

    • Serve as the primary point of contact for organizations, affiliates, and presenters requesting endorsement of their workshops through NCAVA. 

    • Submit workshop information to the Communications Team for marketing and promotion.

    • Maintain a list of organizations that offer education and training that is consistent with NCAVA’s standards for endorsement and share that information with the Certification Chair for applicants to use in achieving or maintaining their CAVNC certification. 

    • Collaborate with the VP of Professional Development to create workshops and online training modules for the NCAVA Members-only Resource Library.

  • Terms of Office: The Education Chair is elected by NCAVA membership and serves a one-year term. 

  • Terms of Position: The Education Chair reports to the Vice President of Professional Development.

  • Pay: None. This position is part of a volunteer board of directors.

  • Time Commitment: The NCAVA Board meets once every month via Zoom except for one to two in-person meetings usually scheduled in October and March. There will be additional monthly time requirements based on strategic goal action items.
